Know what every workshop job actually cost in technician time
Book technician time against work orders, units and build orders with a split cost and charge rate, so you can see which jobs actually made money.

Overview
Most equipment dealers know their workshop charge-out rate to the dollar, but not what a job actually cost them in technician time. When the only number you track is what you billed, you can't tell a profitable service job from one that quietly ran over, and you can't feed accurate hours to your build orders or your payroll run. The result is a workshop that looks busy but whose real margin is a guess.
MDMS closes that gap by giving every labour rate a separate cost rate and charge rate, set per technician or as a default. Technicians book time against a work order, an equipment unit or an assembly build order, and each entry values the hours at both cost and charge so the true cost of the job is visible next to what you bill. A manager approves the time, and those approved hours flow straight through: onto the service invoice, into manufacturing WIP as real cost, and out to the payroll export. An Effective Labour Rate KPI divides total charge by total hours over a period, so you can see at a glance whether the workshop is recovering the rate it's meant to.
What's included
- Split cost and charge labour rates

- Effective Labour Rate KPI
How it works
- Set a cost rate and a charge rate per technician, or use the default rate.
- Book technician time against a work order, an equipment unit or an assembly build order.
- Approve the hours so they feed service invoicing, manufacturing WIP and the payroll export.
Inside Labour Costing
Real screens from MDMS — captured from the live application, not mock-ups.

Book technician time against work orders, units and build orders and see cost against charge on every line, with an approval step and an effective labour rate for the period so you know which work is actually profitable.
Works with
Service & Work Orders
Schedule workshop jobs, capture parts and labour, invoice from the work order and feed the unit's full service history.
Manufacturing & BOM
Assemble whole-goods units from parts, labour and sublet, track cost in Work In Progress, then capitalise the true built cost onto the finished unit.
Payroll Export
Aggregate approved technician labour hours for a pay period and generate a payroll CSV, with the payroll cost flowing back into the ledger.
