What seasonal reorder adjustment is
A dealer in cropping country does not sell the same parts in July as in October. Plain usage-based suggestions treat a quiet month and a harvest month as equals, so reorder points lag the season. Seasonal reorder adjustment lets the business describe its own year, in numbers it types.
For each branch, an administrator, dealer principal, branch manager or parts manager enters twelve monthly factors, all twelve or none. Each sits between 0.25 and 4.00, and only the ratios between months matter. MDMS ships no factors; nothing is pre-filled. When a profile is saved, the Demand tab divides each past week by its own month's factor, then scales the result by the factors of the months the lead time reaches into.
To stop a wild profile producing a wild order, the adjusted average and spread are each held between a floor and a cap times the unadjusted figures. The standard band is 0.50 to 2.00, and an administrator or dealer principal can widen or narrow it for the business, with the change audited. The Why panel shows the band, the factors, who saved them and when, and the adjusted and unadjusted numbers side by side.
The pack is a layer on top of Demand forecasting, not a replacement for it. If a part is declined by the Demand tab for thin history, it stays unadjusted, as do branches with no saved profile and parts that sell under one unit over the lead time. An applied reorder point stays fixed until someone applies a new one, which keeps the numbers on the shelf stable between reviews.

What seasonal reorder adjustment covers
- Takes one complete set of twelve monthly factors per branch, typed by a person, with nothing pre-filled
- De-seasonalises past weeks, then scales the result to the months the lead time falls in
- Holds the adjusted average and spread between a floor and a cap times the unadjusted figures
- Lets an administrator or dealer principal set the business's own floor and cap, with changes audited
- Shows the factors used, who saved them and when, and adjusted against unadjusted figures in the Why panel
Where seasonal reorder adjustment stops
Stated as it behaves today, so you can judge the fit before you switch it on.
- Does not forecast weather, crop prices or regional crop calendars, and ships no factors of its own
- Has no per-part factors or bulk import
- Leaves parts that the Demand tab declines, branches with no profile and parts with no usage unadjusted
- Suggestions only: an applied reorder point stays fixed until applied again
Seasonal reorder adjustment in a working day
The branch manager knows August is nothing and November is everything for seed drill wear parts. She enters twelve factors that say so, and checks the Why panel on a few lines. A bearing that looked adequate in August is now suggested at a higher reorder point to cover a lead time that runs into the busy months. The cap stops the biggest part from jumping beyond the limit the administrator set.
