What mixed job types on one work order is
A tractor comes in for a service, the customer wants a new belt, and while it is on the stand the technician finds a failed sensor that is still under manufacturer warranty. Three kinds of work, three different payers, one machine, one visit. Mixed job types lets that live on one work order instead of three job cards and a pile of sticky notes.
Each line carries its type: chargeable, warranty or internal. Work through the job as normal. When the work order is completed, MDMS splits it into one linked job per type. The chargeable job goes through the same completion that raises the customer invoice, the warranty job goes through the same path that produces a warranty claim, and the internal job goes through the internal recharge. The split hands each group of lines to the completion path that already handles that kind of document.
Parts are the one place to be careful. A part already issued from stock cannot move to a different type, so it decides the type of the job it is on. Discount goes to the chargeable job only, and voiding is per job, so cancelling the warranty portion leaves the customer invoice alone.

Mixed job types on one work order in a working day
The counter hands over a harvester after a major service. The same card holds the service the owner is paying for, a sensor the manufacturer will cover, and a wash-down the dealership absorbs as a goodwill job. The service manager completes it once, and three linked jobs appear: one invoice, one warranty claim ready to lodge, one internal recharge for the goodwill cost.

Frequently asked questions
- Do I get one invoice or several documents?
- Several, by design. The chargeable job produces the customer invoice, the warranty job produces a warranty claim, and the internal job produces an internal recharge. They stay linked so you can see the original work order.
- What happens to parts I have already issued?
- They cannot move. Because the stock movement has already happened, an issued part decides the type of the job it is on. Pick the type before you issue.
- Is this the same as job segments?
- Related, not the same. Mixed job types is the splitting engine. Job segments adds a screen that organises a work order by fault, each with its own Bill to, and needs this pack switched on first.
